Brighten Your Smile Today
We understand that having yellowed teeth or a discolored smile might make you feel self-conscious or awkward. Maybe you tried to fix it at home with over-the-counter products, but they did not do the trick. We offer teeth whitening that is affordable, with quality you can trust. We don’t believe in cookie-cutter dentistry—our solutions for discolored teeth will be based on you!
In-Store vs. In-Office Whitening
In-store teeth whitening kits claim to offer affordable whitening solutions. While they can be easy or cost less than a visit to the dentist, they are not as effective. The downside to most of these kits is that they only whiten the front six teeth and they can cause sensitivity.
At Torrey Dental, our in-office teeth whitening avoids the shortcomings of an in-store whitening kit. The process is done by our dental professional team. With our treatment, all of your teeth will be brightened, which eliminates any inconsistencies in the color of your teeth. You can expect a comfortable whitening experience free from sensitivity or pain.
Although the price might be a little more to have teeth whitening done in-office, it’s worth it to achieve the outcome of your new beautiful white smile received in a safe and sanitary environment.

Request An AppointmentPain-Free Tooth Whitening
We work to keep your dentistry experiences pain-free and anxiety-free.
During tooth whitening, we protect your gums and use a gel that prevents sensitivity during the treatment.
Some patients experience little to no sensitivity, while other patients may need to limit the strength and time of the bleaching to avoid sensitivity. Dr. Torrey will work with you to find the right time for your bleaching to avoid sensitivity while offering stunning results.
The Teeth Whitening Process
We offer straight-forward dentistry, with no frills, just a good experience for our patients. After you have consulted with our dentist and determined the correct shade of whiteness for your teeth, you will then be ready to get treated.
- A cheek retractor will be inserted into your mouth to help Dr. Torrey see your teeth and place the gel.
- A protective liquid rubber dam or hardening resin will be brushed onto the gum tissue. This is meant to protect against any irritation that can be caused by the bleaching gel and is easily removable after treatment.
- A bleaching gel that contains hydrogen peroxide will be applied to the teeth. It will be kept on for a couple of minutes.
- The bleaching gel will then be washed off. Fresh gel may be applied a couple of times and left on for between 15 and 20 minutes. Between gel applications, the patient’s teeth are checked to gauge progress. This will help our dental team to decide if more bleach needs to be applied.
- After the treatment is done, the patient will then rinse before the immediate post-treatment shade change is measured. Patients should be able to see two to three shades brighter.
The Science of Tooth Whitening
Stains on teeth appear when colored molecules stick to the plaque, tartar, and the surface of our teeth. Dental cleanings help remove plaque and tartar but the stains still appear yellow. With teeth whitening, the bleaching solution applied to the teeth combines with oxygen from the air and carbon in the teeth to break apart the staining molecules stuck to the teeth.

Request An AppointmentFrequently Asked Questions about Teeth Whitening
With so many tooth-whitening options, we want our patients to understand tooth whitening as much as possible. Here at Torrey Dental, we recommend our professional teeth whitening service as a great way to brighten your smile.
Here are some frequently asked questions people often have about professional teeth whitening:
Will teeth whitening work for me?
Results from whitening vary from person to person and on the type of stains. Teeth whitening generally works best on yellowish-brown stains compared to gray stains.
Should I get a dental cleaning before or after teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening works best on teeth free of plaque and tartar. Staying current on your dental cleanings is important for your health, but will also ensure the best possible results for whitening. If you are due for a cleaning, you can schedule the dental cleaning and teeth whitening on the same day.
Will whitening my teeth damage my enamel?
A major benefit of whitening your teeth under dental professional care is that you significantly reduce the risk of any damage to tooth enamel and gums compared to over-the-counter solutions. Teeth whitening at Torrey Dental ensures you are getting legitimate whitening products that are applied by professionally trained staff.
Do I need to do anything special before or after teeth whitening?
There is nothing special you need to do before whitening, however, the treatment does work best on healthy teeth free from plaque and tartar. To ensure the best results afterward, avoid eating foods or drinks that can stain your teeth for at least 48 hours.
Will teeth whitening work on dental veneers, composites, or crowns?
Whitening does not change the color or shade of any non-natural tooth restoration.
How long does teeth whitening last?
Tooth whitening can last a couple of months to a couple of years! Teeth whitening lasts longest when patients follow a healthy diet, avoid smoking, avoid teeth-staining foods and drinks, and utilize a straw when possible. It is important to maintain good oral health by brushing and flossing twice a day and maintaining regular dental cleanings.
Do teeth whitening solutions actually work?
In-office teeth whitening solutions do work and so will some in-store solutions. However, in-store solutions will vary depending on how discolored your teeth are. If you want to get white teeth, the best solution is professional teeth whitening. It’s stress-free, and you only have to sit back and relax and let our dental team do their job!
